Privacy policy

What BuildYourLaunch collects, why, who it shares it with and how to have it removed.

What we collect

  • Your account: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. Your username, bio, X handle and website if you add them to your profile.
  • What you publish: the products you submit (name, website, description, images), your upvotes and your comments. Launches, comments and maker profiles are public.
  • Ads you book: the product name, URL, tagline and logo you give us.
  • Email you send us: messages to any buildyourlaunch.com address are stored so we can read and answer them.
  • Technical data: your IP address, used briefly to rate-limit requests and stop abuse, and server logs kept for troubleshooting.

Cookies and analytics

A session cookie keeps you signed in, and a preference cookie remembers your light or dark theme. When analytics is switched on we use Google Analytics 4, which sets its own cookies to count visits and see which pages and links are used. Links to other sites carry a utm_source tag naming buildyourlaunch.com, so those sites can see the visit came from us; no personal data is in it.

Who processes your data

  • Polar handles payments as merchant of record. We never see your card details; we receive the order and the email address it was paid with.
  • Cloudflare serves the site, sends our emails (sign-in links, launch updates) and receives mail sent to our domain.
  • Google provides sign-in with Google and, when switched on, Google Analytics.
  • Our database and the app run on a server we rent and manage ourselves.

We do not sell your data or share it for anyone else’s advertising.

Why we use it

To run your account and your launches, take payments, send the emails you asked for or need (sign-in links, launch status, comments on your launch), keep the site free of spam and abuse, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

How long we keep it

Your account and what you publish stay until you delete them or ask us to. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires. Logs and rate-limit data expire on their own within days.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, or have your account and everything tied to it deleted. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. See also our terms of service.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes are announced on the site.
